Nearly sixty people attended yesterday the presentation of the V Violet Thermometer, dedicated to the sports sector, which was held at the College of Journalists of Barcelona, organized by the Association 50a50.

The presentation reflected the data on the percentage of representation of women in the boards of directors and the boards of directors. Concluding that female representation is 23% on boards of directors and 27.3% on boards of directors.

Yesterday’s day was inaugurated by the dean of the College of Journalists, Mr. Joan Maria Morros, who recalled that achieving 50% representation in the professional field is a crucial objective to achieve equal rights and opportunities, and to promote a more diverse, dynamic and rich work environment.

Our president, Mrs. Anna Mercadé, continued with the opening ceremony by thanking all the attendees and remembering the key objectives of the Association and promoting and highlighting the development objectives set out in the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The partner, Mrs. Montse Mas, was in charge of presenting and explaining in detail the study carried out by the Association. Taking advantage of the data extracted and mentioning in particular that women need more representation in sports decision-making bodies.

The groups studied are as follows:

The top 20 of the federations were selected in terms of current Catalan federative licenses, representing (according to the National Institute of Statistics) approximately 84% of the total (538,349 of the 637,385 totals).
Samples were also taken from sports clubs, selecting the top 14, which represent approximately 43% of the total volume (272,500 members of 637,385 totals) in terms of partners, with a total of 8,805 clubs in Catalonia taking into account.
On the part of the clubs or fitness groups, the top 21 groups with the highest number of subscribers in Spain were selected through the CMD Fitness Gym magazine, selecting only those who have a business activity in Catalonia, and discarding those who act outside the territory or who have a low percentage of representation of centers compared to other groups. According to CMD Fitness Gym, these groups have 60% of subscribers in Spain.
With regard to the sports councils, a total of 11 councils focused on physical and sports activity in school age were taken into account, we have had those who had the necessary information.
It has been included both in the Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia (UFEC) and in the Union of Sports Councils of Catalonia (UCEC).

The day, had a round table discussion, the moderator was Mrs. Cristina Collado, sports journalist, and we had the pleasure of having Mrs. Elena Fort (institutional vice president of FC Barcelona), Mrs. Galia Dvorak (player Tenis Taula Championa Espa.a Absolute Medal 2021), Mrs. Catalina Rivera (karateka Top 20 in the ranking of best karatekes synchronized) and Mrs. BertN The round table discussed the positions of power imposed by the male gender, the situations of harassment in sport and finally, the situation experienced in the Rubiales case. All of them were excellent in their contributions and it was a very rich day in values.

Finally, our partner, Mrs Carol Daunert, concluded the event by asking for a number of applause from the representatives of the round table, from all the attendees and from all the constant struggle that aims to seek parity for women.
