Yesterday, at the College, the first workshop organized by the Commission for Equality and Equity took place — a firm step towards building a more just, inclusive, and equitable professional environment.
Under the title “Equality: A Brief Success Story”, the workshop featured a keynote by Esther Nin Camps, a partner and board member of 50a50 Shared Leadership, lawyer, senior executive at a company listed on the IBEX 35, and board member of the ODEE (Observatory for Women, Business and Economy) of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.
With a clear and committed perspective, Nin offered a compelling overview of the progress made in terms of equality over the past decades, while emphasizing that despite advances, there is still a long way to go. Drawing from her dual experience as a high-level executive and equality advocate, she illustrated how power structures and unconscious biases continue to shape and limit many women’s professional paths.
The event became a true space for collective reflection. Personal experiences were shared, uncomfortable questions were raised, and a rich and constructive debate emerged around the role each of us can — and must — play in advancing towards a more equal society.
For 50a50, this event is yet another example that shared leadership is not only necessary but also possible. Dialogues like this are essential to building an organizational culture rooted in respect, co-responsibility, and gender justice.
Equality is a success story — but one still under construction. And each action, like the one taken yesterday, brings us one step closer to the future we aspire to: a world where women and men lead, decide, and live as equals.
